My name is Brittney, and I am a second-year speech-language pathology student. As of May, I began my first clinical placement in the community! My externship placement is at a pediatric outpatient clinic, where I manage a caseload of about 15 children. This experience has given me substantial exposure to augmentative and alternative communication, which has been incredibly rewarding. Although I have always felt that working with adults was my calling, I am now developing a strong connection with pediatric patients, making my career decision much more challenging. However, I am confident that all the experiences I am gaining will be worth it in the end. 🗣️🧠

Working with these young clients has opened my eyes to the unique challenges and joys of pediatric speech therapy. Each day brings new learning opportunities, and I am continually inspired by the progress and resilience of the children I work with. This externship has truly expanded my skills and perspectives, and I am excited about the diverse possibilities my future career holds.
