Ini hal yang juga penting agar kamu tidak mengalami “Culture Shock”

Take it from me! I had quite a culture shock when i first moved to Switzerland. Shops there close at around 4-5pm which i think is very early! Compared to Jakarta or Singapore where it closes at 10pm. I learnt that Swiss people appreciate their personal quality time and they love the peace and quietness of the city. This was shocking to me as i was so used to the lifestyle of going for entertainment (cinemas) or just window shopping at evening hours.

Learning their language can help you in the long run. Back when i was studying in Singapore, i learn alittle singlish so i could understand the slang words when they speak. For example they say "Lah" or "Bo Jio" or "Aiyoh" or "Chope" and many more. My singaporean friends appreciate that i could easily understand them.

When I moved to Switzerland, I realised that there were very few Indonesian students living in Switzerland. I quickly looked for and found an Indonesian student community, which although it was a very small group, it was nice to know that there was a group of people where i am familiar with. (Culture, language, food) We could go hunting for the asian store together and relate on things we miss from home!
