@brianjohnsadventure Save this post for future planning to Grand Teton National Park ๐
This post will help you to plan a fun, exciting adventure this spring, summer or fall to Grand Teton National Park, wyoming. Additional posts will be made for winter planning, and I have a bit of content produced already so scroll back for some winter tips.
1. Family friendly day hikes-
โขPhelps lake- many enjoy this hike, itโs just a few miles round trip. Bring your bathing suit, or just enjoy scenery. Black bears are prevalent here so use precautions.
โขLeigh/ String lakes- very popular again for families. Easy trail to several lakes that many enjoy for kayaking, swimming and more. Have fun, and be sure to pack out what you pack in always.
โขTaggart Lake- my last family friendly recommendation is Taggart/ Bradley. Itโs an easy hike. For best scenery, go during sunrise or sunset with good weather for a stunning reflection of Grand Teton. (See pic # 3 for reference)
2. Wildlife tips ๐ป ๐ฆ ๐ฆ
- Grizzly bears roam primarily in the North of the park. They can be unpredictable and dangerous so always use caution, and always remain at least 100 M away / follow all orders given by rangers and park volunteers for further stipulations.
- bald eagles can be seen all over the park, but I especially recommend searching along waterways, as their primary food source trout ๐ will keep them close to water. The snake River, Jackson and jenny lake, as well as Oxbow Bend section of the snake River are prime feeding areas for eagles ๐ฆ - bring binoculars and or a telephoto lens for best pictures.
- moose- the elusive moose is most easily found in the winter or late autumn, but can be seen year round. Best areas to find them include the Moose Wilson road and the Gros Ventre river. Best time is early morning. Keep your distance. Moose are unpredictable and dangerous.
