I Avoided A Disaster The Day Before I Left Xiamen

This was my last day travelling in Xiamen. At about 1130 am, an elderly woman (who was standing behind me on the escalator) lost control of her luggage, which rolled down the moving escalator, broke open, spilling its content down the steps.

The rest of the passengers panicked.

I sensed a disaster was about to take place. Someone shouted, "Hit the emergency button!” The escalator kept on moving us down to the train platform. Before anyone tripped and fell, (I saw) a youthful staff at the platform sprang into action — he rushed to the emergency stop button and stopped the escalator from moving.

Xiamen MRT staff at Lucuo station - thank you. The handsome hunk who prevented a disaster - I wished I had thanked you personally…
