Sakura is long gone. Autumn foliage is in the future. Kyoto in May is green - brightness and greenery rule this ancient city.

🌦️ Weather

The days are long. The sun rises at about 430 am; sunset is around 7 pm.

Temperature: 13 °C to 29 °C. It rains about two days in a week, and it usually rains in the morning. By 2 pm, it can be cloudy sky or sunny weather.

Humidity is bearable. Muggy weather/sweltering days (daily affair in Singapore) will come gradually.

👖 Attire

There are days (mornings) you will appreciate poncho/raincoat/umbrella. It can also be windy at times.

Wear what you’d wear in a typical air-conditioned venue (such as air-conditioned office in Singapore).

⛩️ Travel Tips

Accommodation seems to be cheaper in late April to May. However, Kyoto is always crowded - if you wish to avoid crowds, these are the recommendations:

- start your day very early

- reach destination before 7 am

- super crowded hours, from 10 am to 6 pm

- be positive

May is lovely in Kyoto.
