It’s Sweet Potato Season Now in Osaka

It’s sweet potatoes season now in Osaka. A huge piece of this starchy root vegetable costs about S$0.90 to S$1.20.

Past generations associate sweet potatoes with painful war time memories, hunger and loss of loved ones.

We r currently in Osaka till mid May. And there are some eateries in the neighbourhood selling warm/hot sweet potatoes. We sometimes ‘stock up’ on these ‘snacks’ for breakfast/afternoon tea (cos the spring rain may last for days, and if we don’t feel like going out in the rain, we can eat these root vegetables as snacks.) Sweet potato also tastes very nice when a thin layer of margarine is applied on it.
