Not just a “BRAT when I’m bumpin’ that..“ but a BAT! 🦇 … BRAT Autumn 🍂

“𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐞” ⁣

The song title & the apple from 𝘛𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵. 🍎🤲🏼

Most importantly the latest album release today from Charli.. she finally bit me. 😈🩸(XCX .. not Bella’s dad 🙄)

This song is lyrically genius with the underlying message of ancestral trauma passed down generation to generation.

“𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬“

“I don’t hate you because you’re a BRAT. You’re a BRAT because I hate you.”

In Halloween 2018, I was the character Damian from 𝘔𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘎𝘪𝘳𝘭𝘴. It was a an inexpensive hit costume that weekend at the college party I went to at the time.

Ever since then it came back with a newer musical rendition, Wal-Mart Black Friday commercial that slayed, and Lindsay Lohan’s best transformation as a human ever.

To me I think this song reflects the theme of navigating toxic relationships and societal pressures.. most importantly friendships (… aren’t we all?)

The track was actually released back in 2011. It was then put on the Brat(s) releases. So the track isn’t directly linked to the 2004 film 𝘔𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘎𝘪𝘳𝘭𝘴.

Despite this, it’s a rhythm of mirrors exploring clique dynamics, bullying, and overall superficiality.

In the song, Charli sings about feeling out of place and excluded. She also addresses the emotional toll of dealing with “mean girls” who embody false appearances and cruelty. (Which goes beyond the “Plastics” in 11th grade if I do say myself).

It speaks to the experience of being alienated by people who put on facades. This can resonate with anyone who has faced social pressures or exclusion. The track’s punk pop vibe combined with the artist’s angsty delivery gives it a rebellious edge.

By effectively capturing this it continues to manifest ideas about the frustration and defiance of breaking free from toxic friendships.

It’s both a critique of shallow social structures and a call for individuality, something Charli often explores in her work.

Charli XCX’s involvement in the film 𝘚𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘳𝘴 centers around her song “Cold Nites” being featured in the soundtrack of the 2012 film.

Charli XCX’s contribution with “Cold Nites” adds to the film’s overall moody and atmospheric tone.

This complements its deeper themes of recklessness and disillusionment I learned after seeing multiple times since it first came out.

𝘚𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘳𝘴, directed by Harmony Korine, is more of a dark, surreal drama following four college girls who rob a diner to fund their spring break trip.

This lead to a series of chaotic and violent events with a drug dealer played by James Franco. The film is known for its gritty and unconventional portrayal of youth culture, excess, and crime.
