3 must visit museums in Santiago, Chile

Santiago, Chile is a beautiful capital city located just an hour from the coast. While this city is often overlooked by travelers, there is so much to do and see! I spent 2.5 weeks here volunteering and I still feel as though I’ve only scratched the surface!

Santiago has an overwhelming number of museums, making it hard to choose which ones are worth the visit. After visiting almost every one, here are my top 3:

1) Museum of Memory and Human Rights : this is the best museum for learning about the history of Chile, especially for English speakers. It is full of informative exhibits, which are translated into both English and Spanish.

2) National Museum of Fine Arts : this museum is located in a beautiful park and is filled with incredible pieces by local Chilean artists. If statues and portraits are your thing, this is the museum for you!

3) Museo de Artes Visuales (MAVI) : this museums has a combination of modern and classical art pieces, and is located in the heart of Santa Lucía, a super cute and hip neighborhood.

Santiago has so much tons more to offer, but this is a great intro into the beautiful culture and history of Chile 🇨🇱
