Creepy Nonfiction Books

We're fast approaching Nonfiction November and I'll be sure to share plenty of nonfiction reads spanning the genre. For now, I wanted to share a few creepy nonfiction reads that would be great to dive into this time of year.⁣

IN COLD BLOOD: The original true crime nonfiction story, about a home invasion massacre of an entire family in small town Kansas. I read this one years ago and it was both terrifying and excellent.⁣

THE TRIAL OF LIZZIE BORDEN: I'm from Massachusetts where everyone knows who Lizzie Borden was, but if you don't, she was famously accused of killing her parents in the late 1800s. This book offers a really interesting perspective on the trial that followed.⁣

WE KEEP THE DEAD CLOSE: Another fascinating true crime narrative about the unsolved murder of a woman at Harvard University in 1969. This one was particularly interesting to me as someone who lives in Boston, but I think anyone who is interested in true crime would also be intrigued.⁣

I'LL BE GONE IN THE DARK: A more modern true crime narrative following the author's hunt for the Golden State Killer, the elusive serial rapist turned murderer who terrorized California for over a decade. The writing in this one is spectacular and it's a real loss that Michelle MacNamara tragically died while investigating this case.⁣
