Check out this totally underrated murder mystery

I seriously NEVER hear anything about this book and I’m not sure why. I was originally drawn to this story because of its old school murder mystery, who done it, vibe. There’s even a reference to Clue about halfway through, which I very much appreciated. But, unlike Clue where there’s just one victim, with one murder weapon, in one room, this killer is on a mission to try and take out the entire Darker family before low tide, when escape from Seaglass becomes possible.

And, it wouldn’t be a good thriller without a few twists along the way. I figured out one of them relatively early on, but kept doubting if I was actually right so I don’t feel like it spoiled anything for me. I don’t think the others were as obvious, so even if you figure one out like I did, there are still plenty more to keep you reading.

The one complaint I do have, however, is that sometimes the author got really wordy, explaining the same thing over and over again. Literally there were entire paragraphs that I found myself skipping over thinking “enough already.” In those cases, one sentence would have been more than enough to get the point across. But, sometimes, I think authors fall into the trap of trying to be too deep and just can’t help themselves. Thankfully, it didn’t happen too often and didn’t take away from the overall story.
