Independent Bookstore Day in Cleveland

April may be reserved for Independent Bookstore Day, a nationwide celebration of small, independently-owned bookstores to encourage readers to keep their dollars closer to home. While the celebration might only occur once a year, it's a mindset I hope this reader community can practice all 12 months!

This year, I spent Independent Bookstore Day at one of my favorite spots in Northeast Ohio: Visible Voices Books. They specialize in new, used, and rare books. Their staff is so welcoming and helpful, even boasting a handful of published authors themselves.

You can grab an adult drink while you browse the shelves, as they have a bar serving beer and wine, and if you needed further incentive to shop, they're directly above one of the best pizzas in Ohio.

But don't think you should shop here once a year: VVB hosts author readings and Mother's Day brunch. You can even rent out the store for private birthday parties and intimate celebrations.

And when you're done, head across the street to Roasted for a delicious cup of coffee. My favorite is their springtime special: their house cold brew with pistachio cream cold foam!
