FAVE Celebrity Memoirs! Check ‘Em Out! 🫶

📖 It took me a long time to get into reading celebrity memoirs. I never had anything against them, I just didn't gravitate toward them, but recently, I've picked up a couple that are phenomenal and need to be on your must read list. Each of these memoirs taps into complex family dynamics, shoot for the moon goals, and choppy, personal grief journeys. You don't have to gravitate to any of these individuals to enjoy their storytelling. There is something unique to learn from each and every one of them.

📖 Crying in H-Mart had me crying in bed, on my couch, in an airplane. Just about everywhere I read this book, I broke out in tears. Michelle Zauner has such a beautiful way of sharing her complicated relationship with her mother. Even though it was tested into adulthood, she found a profound level of love and respect for the woman who raised her.

📖 Another complicated maternal dynamic, Jennette McCurdy's I'm Glad My Mom Died was brutal from a completely different perspective. As a former child star, McCurdy grew up under constant scrutiny, and her home was no more of a safe space. Her iconic Nickelodeon character, Sam, couldn't have been more opposite from childhood Jennette, and McCurdy shows us how to age with grace, even when our childhood was unkind to us.

📖 Greenlights is outstanding. It’s that simple. I could listen to (or read) Matthew McConaughey ramble on about his childhood for hours. This man has unteachable charisma that we should all envy. I've incorporated more than one of his mantras from this book into my own meditative practices, they're that profound.
