If youβre taking your first step into the gym this week (or this month) please read below my top tips for all the beginner lifting gym girlies. ππ½ββοΈππͺπΌ
1οΈβ£ Go in with a plan! Having a plan makes the gym way less intimidating and helps you know what to do when youβre in there, instead of feeling overwhelmed and you end up just going on the elliptical... weβve all been there. So whether you purchased a workout guide, are working with a fitness coach or did your own research and created your own workouts... go in there with a plan! I have several posts about workout splits based on certain fitness goals, Iβd recommend referring to those if you need some help getting started! <3
2οΈβ£ Track your progress! Keeping track of how much your lifting, how many sets/reps you do and how many workouts you accomplish is SO important. It will help you keep track of what youβre doing, the progress youβre making each week and help hold you accountable to keep going. I also recommend taking progress photos at week 1 and 4 to visibly see the physical wins youβve made within your first month (and then taking photos every 4 weeks).
3οΈβ£Donβt forget about proper nutrition. When I first started lifting weights I didnβt change my eating habits which really held me back from making progress (gaining muscle / losing weight). Remember to start focusing on how much protein you eat, getting in enough fruits/veggies and prioritizing water each day. You donβt need to cut out all the foods you love but become more mindful of what youβre putting into your body.
