Let’s talk about Creatine Monohydrate. This is the most popular supplement on the market that is used for increased exercise performance and overall muscle growth. It’s something that I take (rather) consistently and has really improved my strength and physique, over the years! So let’s break things down and see if this supplement is right for you.

1️⃣ How does Creatine work?

Creatine essentially provides energy to your muscles so that they are able to lift more, perform for longer, (and in time) help you grow lean muscle mass. Your body produces about 1g of Creatine naturally, so giving your body a boost of it helps it produce more ATP (or energy) to help your workouts be more effective. One myth is that taking Creatine makes you gain muscle... which is not true. You need to put in the effort (through exercise) to build the muscle, Creatine is just a helper!

2️⃣ When do you take Creatine?

Creatine can be taken at any time during the day, it doesn’t need to necessarily be taken prior to working out or after but most people remember to take it then, because it can be mixed in a pre-workout drink or protein shake since most is unflavored and blends well. The biggest thing is to be consistent with taking it to see the results!

3️⃣ How much Creatine should I take?

Typically 3-5g is the recommended dose per day. Some people load and take more than that when first starting to get their body adjusted but it’s not necessary! Make sure you find a reputable brand as well!

4️⃣ What else should I know?

You may experience some digestive issues when first starting out (bloating, nausea etc.) but your body should regulate within a week or so (if not, stop taking it!). WATER, drink lots of water while taking Creatine, it can cause dehydration so be sure to be conscious of how much water you are consuming.

💗 Of course, do your own research and talk with your doctor before starting any supplement to make sure it will be okay with any other medications you are on and any conditions you may have. Hope this helped you learn a little more about Creatine! 🫶🏼
