It may sound crazy, but my initial budget for my wedding gown + evening gown rental was $500... Right from the start, my husband and I collectively decided that we wanted our wedding to be as budget as possible so we do not have to stress over finances & feel too much of a heartache seeing our bank account dwindle (didn't help that we have other expenses like our wedding banquet & resale flat + renovations) 😂 Read on to find out where I looked for these gowns & whether I stuck to my budget in the end!

1. The Only One Wedding Studio

• Wedding gown rental: From $188

• Evening dress rental: From $50

• Some gowns are also on sale! I snagged a red one for $50 but ended up not wearing it, so I resold it on Carousell for the same price.

• Pros: Convenient location (it used to be at City Hall, now it’s at Aljunied), great service, and you can try on as many gowns as you like

• Cons: Limited selection of gowns to choose from.

2. THEGOWNSHOP

• Rental rates: From $150

• Pros: More gown options and some are really stunning! I remember my cousin falling in love with the pieces I tried :')

• Cons: Inconvenient location, limited to trying three gowns total (which tbh isn't great, especially since it was only the second shop I visited and I wasn't sure what type of dress I wanted yet), and the staff only speak Chinese, so communication could be tricky if you're not fluent.

3. True Love Studio

• Rental rates: From $150

• Pros: Convenient location, loved the dresses too, excellent service, great mix of white gowns and evening gowns. Although they officially limit the session to one hour, they’re pretty flexible, and you can try on as many gowns as you want.

• Cons: None from me!

4. Chambre.sg 7 gambas crescent

• Rental rates: Under $500

• Pros: Beautifully designed cheongsams, with new designs and collections released frequently. They also have sales pretty often.

• Cons: Only offers cheongsams, so the range is limited.

In the end, a friend who’s the same size as me offered to lend me a gown she bought (SO thankful 😭). I got my evening gown from Chambre (last pic). It was the priciest option at $450 (rental), but I couldn’t resist because the design was just too gorgeous and I loved it too much 😍 & my kua was bought off Carousell ($20)! So yes, I managed to keep within my budget! However, if I did not manage to borrow the white gown from my friend, I think I would've gotten both my wedding and evening gowns from number 3 (True Love Studio) cause I felt the most comfortable with their service and I think their dresses suited my style most! It would probably have cost $450 in total ($300 for the white gown I liked, $150 for the evening gown).

Hope this helps if you’re on the hunt for budget-friendly gowns too :D
