Is Maldives REALLY a dream honeymoon destination?

Maldives is well known as one of THE best destinations for honeymoons and I totally agree with it! Did you know that in Maldives, most resorts will give special privileges to couples who are on honeymoon?

The most common way to book your resort in Maldives is via direct booking or through various travel platforms. While booking on travel platforms can be slightly cheaper, direct booking with the resort will give you more perks. We reached out to our resort, Ayada Maldives through email and we made know to them that we are newly weds and will be there for our honeymoon trip. Surprisingly, they did not ask for any proof of marriage!

🛏️ Room decor

As we opened the door into our room, we were surprised to see the decor that was prepared by the resort! Although the decor is not something fancy or expensive, it surely made us feel welcome for our honeymoon. It is also perfect for Instagram content - you can post to let your friends know about your dreamy vacation!

🍾 Champagne

Honeymoon is a celebration and tossing champagne is a must! It was really sweet that the champagne came with a bucket of ice too. We only managed to finish our champagne on the third day and the staff was really kind to help us bring over while we were changing to ocean villa on the third day.

🥩 Candle light dinner

There are many restaurants in the island however not all are included in your all-inclusive package. You have to top up if you dine in certain restaurants. We were lucky that we were entitled to one candle light dinner at the Ocean Breeze restaurant as the food is way better than Magu, the place that we eat everyday.

🥐 In-villa breakfast

If you do not want to splurge on floating breakfast, this honeymoon complimentary in-villa dining might be a good value for you and it is very insta-worthy too!

The resort I stayed in is Ayada Maldives and it is located in the southern rim of the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. It was awarded with the “Certificate of Excellence” and “Traveller’s Choice” in 2019, also listed among the top 25 luxury resorts worldwide!! It is on the more pricey side but still affordable as compared to other luxury resorts!

Overall, I think it is worth it to splurge on a Maldives trip for honeymoon! Besides all the perks, I also appreciate the privacy and quiet time we got to spend as a newly wed couple!
