Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (24 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 ounces lasagna noodles, uncooked
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Directions:
1. Cook the Meat Sauce:
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or Italian sausage until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer the sauce for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld together.
2. Layer the Lasagna:
- Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of your crock-pot to prevent sticking.
- Break the lasagna noodles into smaller pieces to fit the shape of your crock-pot. Layer the noodles over the sauce.
- Spread a layer of the meat sauce over the noodles, followed by a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese and dollops of ricotta cheese. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used, ending with a layer of sauce and cheese on top.
3. Cook in the Crock-Pot:
- Cover the crock-pot and cook the lasagna on low heat for 4-6 hours, or until the noodles are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Once the lasagna is cooked, sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top and let it melt for a few minutes.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired.
Serve and Enjoy:
