Kindle or iPad?🤔

With the new kindle releases, Amazon has ppl torn. After weighing the pros and cons I decided to return my kindle and just get an iPad mini.

I got a certified refurbished iPad mini w/64GB for only $224 (don’t get too excited, I had a gift card and used the 10% veterans discount, on top of the 15% discount Apple has on all their refurbished products on their site). The reason why I switched was because it made more sense for what I enjoyed doing and using an e-reader for. Yes, I know an iPad mini isn’t an e-reader but it can be used as one, it’s compact, and does a lot more which makes it feel as if it’s worth it compared to a kindle that’s limited to only reading (what Amazon will allow).

PROS🤓

-Don’t have to pay extra to have “colored” book covers or color anything! Everything is in color already.

-The mini 6 starts at 64GB the mini 7 starts at 128GB. More than enough storage to keep books instead of deleting them off your device if you’re that type of hoarder🤷🏽‍♀️

-I also have large hands (I’m 6’1”) so the mini is perfect for me to hold and not uncomfortable.

-No lag when loading books, scrolling, turning pages, etc.

-The colors. For my pink girly pops, the mini 6 have pink available (it shouldn’t matter if you decorate the back anyways but if you don’t…it’s more gentle on the eye than the raspberry color kindle released. No hate, it’s still cute, I just favor the more blush pink than hot pink).

-I CAN FOLLOW ALONG AND READ WHILE USING AUDIBLE!!! This was my biggest selling point and what made me switch. I was not aware that you could only use kindle unlimited or audible vs using both simultaneously. I like to read along with audio books.

-I purchased an anti glare screen projector, works fine. Also got a hard case to protect it and you can still decorate like the kindle.

-I was worried it wouldn’t fit in my lululemon mini duffel but it does w/ease🥰

-I love to journal, plan, and read manga. Those types of apps I can’t get on a kindle and paying almost $400 for a scribe didn’t make sense for annotation and taking notes.

-Spotify, for listening to music while reading when I’m not using audible.

-Pinterest, for inspiration when it comes to decor, apps, book recommendations, etc.

-Easy on the eyes. Dark mode of course isn’t like the e-reading rendering but I honestly felt like I had more issues with my eyes reading on the kindle than my mini.

CONS🙃

-A slightly larger screen than the basic kindle, and the paper white but not by much.

-No book like rendering, but dark mode works fine for reading.

-Battery life on the kindle is a lot better than any iPad, but the battery life on the mini is still good for any reader. 10 hours of reading works for me.

SUMMARY😌🙂‍↕️

The mini does so much more and I only use it for reading, journaling, planning and listening to music. That’s it. I created a separate iCloud and Apple ID specifically for my mini. Honestly love that I made the switch and returned my kindle. Not trying to convince anyone to switch but in case ppl were wondering…here you go😘
