NYC | Fine dining with a bourgeois atmosphere

Oiji Mi

This is a Korean fine dining restaurant with chef Brian Kim. Although it's fine dining, I didn't make a reservation and ended up sitting at the bar. Despite being at the bar, the dining environment is really nice, but it's still better to make a reservation for a standard seat. The menu is $145 and consists of 5 courses, with typically 3 options per course. Below are some dishes I particularly enjoyed.

🐂Beef Tartare

This is a dish I highly recommend from the first course. I really like the combination of caviar and cucumber, and when eaten with brioche, the caviar explodes in your mouth, while the cucumber balances out the strong flavor of the caviar, and the brioche adds a nice touch to the dish.

🎃Pumpkin Soup

I've always liked pumpkin soup, and this one is really thick and creamy, with a subtle taste of truffle and pine nuts. It's like magic has been applied to a homely dish!

🍚Oiji Bowl

This is probably a dish that everyone orders from the third course. It consists of sea urchin, sweet shrimp, oji, and seaweed rice. It's simply amazing and takes the meal to a climax! The seafood is fresh, and the combination of flavors is unbeatable. They use round-shaped, well-defined grains of rice, which is quite exquisite.

🥩Wagyu Galbi

Compared to the previous dish, this one has an average taste and small portions. It's not the best wagyu beef, and they charge an additional $15 fee, so I don't recommend it.

🍧Satsuma Bingsu

As the last dessert of the meal, this tangerine shaved ice is served, and the staff will pour condensed milk over it for you to take pictures!
