Let’s start with nursing school

Nursing school is hard, you will cry more than you thought possible. I promise though you will laugh too. Find your people make friends that will last a life time and enjoy yourself.

My school always said remember self care which seems impossible at the time but you will find time if not than make it. Remember why you wanted to be a nurse.

Nurse Mike was an amazing resource and has so many crafty ways to remember diseases and meds.

Your grades do not define you. One bad exam grade is not the end of the world. Talk with your professors, ask questions, create study groups that mesh with your learning style. Take advantage of your clinicals and ask questions. No question is ever dumb, I promise you us fellow nurses want you to succeed as much as you want it.

It’s okay to cry, it’s okay to be sad, it’s okay to have anxiety that leaves you on the bathroom floor in a ball crying, what’s not okay is not picking yourself off that floor and continuing to step forward.

Most nursing students will fail at least one class, I wanted to be sure that I wasn’t a part of that statistic. I was lucky to not be but most of my friends were. I don’t say this to brag I say it because me not failing a class didn’t matter in the end we all walked across that stage together.

I know family life is hard and can feel daunting on top of going to nursing school. I myself have 2 kids, one special needs who requires a lot of medical attention. Don’t let your age, family life, friends get in the way of meeting your goals.
