Debunking tiktok hypes - Cheeky Bee Hoon

Cheeky Bee Hoon 麒记米粉 - katong (4.7 on google, 3.5 for me)

Damage: approx $28/2 pax

TLDR: normal, sides are meh, soup is very peppery, dry is nice, albeit all abit on the salty side.

Cheeky keeps popping up on my tiktok! So we finally went to the katong branch ✈️ air conditioned, cute vintage signboards like tiger beer on the walls & a very chinese household look. As well as Singaporean hits like “home” playing in the background🤣

Cheeky beehoon soup ($8.80) - 4/5

Peppery broth, like bah kut teh. Literally. Toppings include lala (clams), meatballs & slices of pork. Very nice on a rainy day. Broth was on the salty side since the first mouth sooo🥲 and if you’re expecting a deep flavoured broth, nah. Its rly just BKT soup. Im personally ok with that since I like BKT but just a heads up. Maybe reduced sodium wld be good. 🫨

Cheeky beehoon braised pork ($8.80) - 3.5/5

Very melt in your mouth kinda braised pork. Sauce is nice, noodles are closer to that of a wanton mee meekia type. Comes with a side of soup.

Charcoal youtiao otah ($4.80) - 2.5/5

Damn small. LOL bite sized but smaller. Nice la but its just youtiao with otah. You can get charcoal youtiao for $2.50 too if you wanna opt out of having otah. Nothing outstanding.

Fried crab dumplings ($4.80) - 3/5

Crab fillings on the inside. Expected it to be creamier (like crab rangoons!!!) but its quite dry. Crispy af though. But 3 pcs for $4.80 ahhhhhHuhuh.

They have lots of condiments on the side like garlic & sauces and some sets where you can get beehoon + drink + you tiao for $11-13.80 which is quite worth.

But overall, nothing stood out for me and I wouldnt return🥲 taste wise, okok. Didnt live up to the tiktok hype. I wouldnt suggest coming down to try them specifically, but if you’re around the area (or their other outlets!), can try. 😌😌😌
