Eggslut | Worth the Hype? 🍳

Eggslut, a famous sandwich store hailing from Los Angeles, landed in Singapore in September 2021. The highly anticipated restaurant chain garnered snaking queues in their first few months of operations. I did not join the hype — up till recently and here are my thoughts:

🥯: Fairfax sandwich ($12)

After scrolling through countless reviews across the Internet, we decided to get the Fairfax sandwich. I was excited about the buttery brioche bun and creamy, smooth eggs but this just was not it.

The brioche bun was heavy and dry, which gave the impression that it has been left out for hours. Nonetheless, the texture of the egg was creamy and soft. However, we felt like it could be more evenly seasoned.

🍳: Slut ($11)

This coddled egg* and mash potato went well together! A simple yet delicious dish. You could mix all the ingredients together and dip the baguette into the glass jar!

[Coddled eggs* = eggs cooked in a small dish and placed in a water bath / lightly cooked just below boiling temperature!]

So... Is Eggslut worth the hype?

Well, I personally do not think so.
