Pros and Cons of a Corporate Job (very biased)

I've been in 3 corporate jobs so far (1 is an internship) and these are my perspectives as a neurodivergent creative person. Also, I'm an engineer, so my perspectives are from this field, but they apply to many corporate jobs.

Pros:

💼The salary. Going from earning nothing, to a consistent nice paycheck will open so many doors that you deprived yourself in college. This can lead to lifestyle inflation, but it can afford you the experiences that you want. I'm an actress, and a huge part of my salary is going to acting, dancing and singing classes.

💼Health Insurance. This is self-explanatory if you live in the US.

💼 I don't think about it after 5. Yes, I clock out as soon as it's five and I leave it alone! I can take vacation and not worry about a thing and my weekends are my own.

💼Your coworkers. If you're not in a toxic place, your coworkers are your biggest resource. You can learn from them, and you can ask them for help in your work. Corporations have thousands of people and resources, if you know how to utilize them, you'll be supported in your work.

Cons:

💼Lack of Creative Work: It is not neurodivergent friendly because of this. The systems are laid out for you already and you're there to perform a job. There are windows of creative projects here and there but they're not the majority of your work.

💼 Things move sloww: Is hard to see the results of what your work on because of how many things need to happen before something is launched. This makes it less rewarding, or is a delayed reward at least.

💼 Can't bring your authentic self: Contrary to what corporations say, you can't really bring your real self to work. There's this unspoken professionalism rule that you must abide by. What's considered professional is the culture of your company which is most likely white man culture.
