Chapter Three: The Silent Watcher

Mia’s curiosity overpowered her fear as she wandered deeper into the cabin. The walls were marked with unfamiliar symbols, as if they held secrets long forgotten. Her fingers traced one lightly, and the wood felt unnervingly warm, as though alive.

The cat’s glowing eyes followed her every move, sitting still near a grandfather clock that ticked steadily toward midnight. Mia noticed a large mirror on the opposite wall, but something was wrong—the reflection didn’t match the room. In the glass, a shadowy figure hovered, watching her with glowing eyes of its own.

A gust of cold wind swept through the cabin, extinguishing the candle. In the sudden darkness, Mia heard the cat whisper again:

“He’s here.”

With a sharp click, the grandfather clock struck twelve.
