what to eat in shenzhen

sharing some of my favourite food things from shenzhen! it’s a huge city with endless food options so i have really only been scratching the surface 🤩

firstly, sz is truly the Land of Taro! and i love taro so taro would naturally feature heavily 👻

🌀雾鲜 : taro mochi milk tea

very reasonably priced, and comes with plenty of taro and some soft mochi blobs 😌 the milk cap is subtly flavoured with kinako. i think i could drink like five cups of this at one go, no kidding. just try it for yourself!

🌀太二酸菜鱼

this one needs no introduction! no queue in shenzhen and half the price in sg 🙃

🌀鲍师傅：芋泥小贝

i dont really know what is 小贝in english but it’s just taro sandwiched between two small pieces of cake similar to a chiffon cake texture! very fluffy and yummy 😋

🌀鲍师傅：taro mochi balls

forgot the name of this in chinese but these are easily recognisable and one of the bestsellers at 鲍师傅! definitely worth a try! or two 🥳🫶🏼

🌀猪拉虎 : grilled chicken sandwich

this is like the korean style / egg slut style of sandwiches! very satisfying for a simple meal!

🌀labaker

labaker has a huge variety of pastries and bakes and they all looked super good. we liked this chocolate pistachio pastry - the dark chocolate flavour was very pronounced. lovely 🥰

🌀 呷不停：taiwanese fried chicken

we got the set which came with fried oyster mushrooms and sweet potato! would highly recommend this because who doesnt like fried food 🤪 it also came with basil and onions in the mix which really elevated the flavour!

🌀凑凑coucou hotpot

also needs no introduction because it is also in sg, but the prices here are more wallet-friendly. definitely try their famous bubble milk tea!
