Money Saving Hacks @ HDL!

🍲 Hotpot is one of my favourite foods to eat because it’s so warm and comforting! One of my favourite places to have hotpot is Hai Di Lao! They have outlets all over Singapore and I visited Mariana Square branch this time around!

🥫I absolutely love tomato soup base for hotpot and I have tried many different hotpot restaurants but nothing can compare to Hai Di Lao’s tomato soup base!

⏱️ I also really love the ambience that HDL gives. Its no doubt that HDL always has a long waiting time, but they do make an effort to make your waiting time worthwhile! For example, you could play some games they provide and if you manage to complete them you could get some discounts on your meal! You could also get free manicures while you wait but due to covid, I believe they have stopped this service but it should open back up real soon! Furthermore, they provide free flow of drinks and snacks for you to munch on while you wait!

💵 The first money saving tip that I’ve learnt is that you can actually bring in the free drinks they provide outside once you’ve got your table! They offer the same drinks such as winter-melon in the menu itself but you would have to purchase it once you enter. Hence, sometimes I just grab a fresh cup before entering so I don’t have to pay for it!

🧄HDL also offers a wide range of sauces and condiments for you to choose from. There is a one time charge for it, but you can go back as many times as you want to refill your sauces! They also provide free flow of side dishes, congee, and fruits in the sauce and condiments bar!

🍄 My absolute FAVOURITE side dish has to be the king oyster mushrooms!!! Its super yummy and has a slight Mala kick to it! If you let the staffs know, they can also pack that away for you to bring home!

🆓 Another tip is that you can actually request for free desserts such as ice cream, beancurd, etc, after your meal!!

🤰Its common to over-order when you eat at HDL because there is so much yummy foods to choose from. If you do have leftovers, you can request for the staff to actually pack your leftovers away for you to bring home! You can request for more soup before you ask them to pack it away~

🤩 HDL is a little on the pricer side but I find that when you go with a large group of people, it is actually quite worth the money! Especially with all the freebies that you can snatch! If you love the snacks that they provide when you’re queueing you can actually let them know and they’ll pack a baggie full of it for you to bring home!

🎂 HDL is also known to be a place for birthday celebrations! That’s because they provide a platter of fruits and cakes, free of charge! You just got to let them know that you are celebrating someone’s birthday in the group and they would even gather some staffs along to sing a birthday song!

🧸 There used to be a trend going on where you can ask the HDL staffs for some toys to play with and bring home! I tried this many times and got a few little trinkets but it seems that they have stopped this as the staff told me so when I tried this time around.

🤩 If you haven’t hopped onto the HDL bandwagon, I definitely recommend that you do! I’ve never had a bad experience here! The food is great, the staffs are friendly, and the ambience is just awesome!!!
