1️⃣ Diet Changes: Warm 🔥Over Cold ❄️

Since diving into Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), one of the most significant shifts in my lifestyle has been my approach to diet. I’ve moved away from consuming ice-cold drinks and raw vegetables, opting instead for warm beverages and cooked foods.

Why? TCM teaches that raw and cold foods introduce “dampness” into the body, which can disrupt digestion and lead to issues like water retention, bloating, and even a sluggish metabolism.

By reducing these cooling foods, I’ve noticed a remarkable improvement in:

✅ Better digestion

✅ Easier to loose weight

✅ Less bloating, better physique 💪

✅ Better skin health

Of course, I still consume cold drinks and ice creams here and there 🤪, what’s life without ice cream ? 😫 I now enjoy them in moderation and still feel great. 😎

2️⃣ Sleep Changes: Embracing Early Bedtimes 😴

I used to be a night owl, but TCM has completely transformed my sleep habits. Learning about the TCM organ clock, I realized the importance of being in bed by 11 PM.

👉 According to TCM, the Liver, which plays a vital role in detoxifying the body and ensuring smooth energy flow, needs to rest between 1AM and 3 AM. If we’re awake during this period, it can lead to Liver Qi stagnation and Liver Fire, manifesting as mood swings, headaches, poor sleep quality, and low energy levels. 😔

👉 Additionally, I’ve incorporated a relaxing herbal foot soak into my routine twice a week around 9 PM. This not only soothes my feet after a long day but also improves circulation and enhances my sleep quality. The difference is truly night and day—I wake up feeling more refreshed, balanced, and ready to tackle the day.

3️⃣ Menses Health 🩸: Nourishing from Within 💁🏻‍♀️

Understanding TCM has also deepened my approach to menstrual health.

👉 I’ve started taking Ba Zhen soup, a traditional remedy known for replenishing Qi and Blood, especially after my period. Before this change, I often felt tired, cold, and generally low on energy post-menses. Ba Zhen soup has helped me feel more vibrant and less pale, giving me the strength I need during that crucial recovery phase.

👉 I’ve also introduced ginger and brown sugar tea into my routine. This warming tea has been a game-changer for my menstrual cramps. My periods are now smoother, with less pain and fewer blood clots.

Last but not least, TCM has revolutionized my skincare routine.

👉 I’ve embraced facial acupuncture and guasha, which have worked wonders for my complexion. My skin feels brighter, my acne and scars have improved significantly, and that pesky facial bloating is a thing of the past. My face no longer looks as pale, and I’ve regained a natural, healthy glow.

👉 I’ve been indulging in a nourishing dessert made from snow fungus and red dates 🥣. This combination is renowned in TCM for its skin-nourishing properties. Regular consumption has made my skin feel more hydrated, less dry, and overall, my complexion is smoother and more radiant.
