author spotlight: ottessa moshfegh

I first discovered Ottessa Moshfegh on instagram two years ago due to her wildly popular release My Year of Rest and Relaxation, which came out in 2018, was doing the rounds on social media because its contents resonated with a lot of people since the pandemic happened. Well, I read it, loved it and I’ve also loved everything else she’s published.

Welcome to the first of the author spotlight series! Where I’ll talk and gush about my favorite authors and their books, the very first one is – you guessed it! Ottessa Moshfegh aka the face of the hot girl trend on the internet.

Moshfegh is known for her disturbing but very real characters, she’s obsessed with exploring the dark and gross side of the human psyche. It’s for this very reason that you’ll find a lot of bodily functions in her work, unlikable personalities and exploration of mental illnesses and what they do to a person.
