SOLO TRIP IN NEW YORK CITY??

in new yoooooooork concrete jungle where dreams are made of 👀

nyc is probably a bucket-list travel destination for many of us — and rightfully so bc it’s an amazing city imo!!! i recently took a (mostly) solo trip to nyc, and while there are many itineraries out there, this is my take on the NON-TOURISTY THINGS you can do should you find yourself with some spare time in the city!

❌ no tourist traps here (i know my cover pic is the statue of liberty but i wouldn’t recommend it HAHA unless you’re into typical tourism~)

1️⃣ thrifting

— thrifting in nyc is such a vibe!!!! there are lots of cool places, incl flea markets which are also really good for random trinkets. i actually got q a haul, including a zara denim jacket for ~$20 usd :,) here are my fav places:

- L train vintage (manhattan, east village)

- Housing Works (chelsea)

- Buffalo Exchange (they have several outlets across nyc)

- williamsburg area

2️⃣ watch a broadway musical

— also something you can def do alone :) and not an experience you should miss out on if you love song and dance!!! my tip: if you are flexible with your schedule and time, opt for a weekday afternoon show (~2pm) because those are usually cheaper!

3️⃣ go cafe-hopping

— eating out alone is definitely not an uncommon thing in nyc!!!! so don’t be afraid to do it. there are lots of nice / interesting eating spots everywhere hehe i would always just google cafe near me and looked at the google reviews :)

4️⃣ go to a PARTYYYY

— because it’s nyc, there’s always something happening. just google “nyc events today” or something like that and look for something that piques your interest!! i went for a taylor swift themed club night, and i made so many friends that night (the people in the last pic are friends i had actually just met that night hahah). but PSA this is NOT a must at all; if you’re more comfortable going to events with friends then pls do so. always stay safe!!!! 🤍
