hello lemon8 π! this is my first post on the app and i will be talking about something dear to me; fitness.
*trigger warning: ed, starving, bullying*

since primary & secondary school, i was deemed as the chubby/fat kid. i was teased and bullied by everyone around me, classmates, friends and my own family. i was 58kg, 155cm.
due to years of bullying endured, it became like a broken record in my head and i couldnβt stop thinking of all the harsh comments on my weight/body. my family would comment things like βlook at your legs and hips, theyβre too big, you should do something about itβ. in 2016, i declared that i was going vegetarian. however, the βdietβ became so bad that i would go days without food and would only rely on water. some days, i would just have 2 bananas for the day. i began to lose weight drastically and i developed an*re*ia. my hair was also dropping fast like flies. it was clear i wasnβt happy even though people commented that i looked βgoodβ.
in 2022, i met my then boyfriend and it was the time that i also decided to put on weight as my ED was taking a toll on me. it has damaged my hormones & metabolism. my ex & i ate a lot during our dates. but all the weight that i had shed during the ED returned and more. i was at my largest at 74kg.
wanting to transform my physique, i started doing bodyweight workouts & HIIT at home. as i didnβt feel any progress with my physique, i then joined a gym. it took me 1 year to really get where i am today, building muscles and losing weight.
here are the things that i did to achieve my current physique:
1. weight training 5x a week
β‘οΈ very important to lose weight & build muscles. helps to lose weight faster than running, pilates.
2. healthy eating at calorie deficit
β‘οΈ calorie deficit is important to lose weight. also remember to eat healthily too. i consume a HIGH PROTEIN & FIBER diet.
3. adequate sleep
β‘οΈ sleeping more than 7 hours a day helps your body and muscles to rest. improves your hormones too.
4. walking at least 30mins a day
β‘οΈ i do incline walk on treadmill almost everyday. otherwise, i hit my daily steps of 10,000. walking is better than running as it puts less pressure on your knees.
after 2 years of gymming, i developed a huge interest in fitness and iβm now doing what i love, being a Personal Trainer π«Ά
just know that if you struggle with body image, itβs very normal and we can definitely change our lives around. it takes a lot of your commitment, dedication & discipline but itβs going to be worth it!
