Clever, smart movies that really made me think during most of the film and after the credits rolled. Sometimes, it was a mystery, and other times, it was fully a horror film, but these all have a clever way of making me think about the film and life once it is over. These movies are highly watchable with interesting characters with crazy plot development from beginning to end.

Gone Girl(2014)

"In Carthage, Mo., former New York-based writer Nick Dunne and his glamorous wife Amy present a portrait of a blissful marriage to the public; when Amy goes missing on the couple's fifth wedding anniversary, Nick becomes the prime suspect in her disappearance; the resulting police pressure and media frenzy cause the Dunnes' image of a happy union to crumble, leading to tantalizing questions about who Nick and Amy truly are." Google

Based on a bestselling novel, Gone Girl has been highly viewed as one of the best films of our generation. with intrigue, mystery, and a lost woman, we ask ourselves, "Did the husband do it? Such a wild ride from beginning to end, we uncover secrets and fear, and we ask ourselves what makes a "cool girl." It makes you think about true crime in a different way.

Prestige(2006)

"Period thriller set in Edwardian London where two rival magicians, partners until the tragic death of an assistant during a show, feud bitterly after one of them performs the ultimate magic trick - teleportation. His rival tries desperately to uncover the secret of his routine, experimenting with dangerous new science as his quest takes him to the brink of insanity and jeopardises the lives of everyone around the pairce." Google

A magical experience Prestige really captures the fear of magic, and the ending will ruin you.

Shutter Island(2010)

"The implausible escape of a brilliant murderess brings U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his new partner (Mark Ruffalo) to Ashecliffe Hospital, a fortress-like insane asylum located on a remote, windswept island. The woman appears to have vanished from a locked room, and there are hints of terrible deeds committed within the hospital walls. As the investigation deepens, Teddy realizes he will have to confront his own dark fears if he hopes to make it off the island alive." Google

A beautiful and heartbreaking film, Shutter Island is about mental health as much as it is about love. The ending kills me every time.

The Circle(2017)

"Mae Holland (Emma Watson) seizes the opportunity of a lifetime when she lands a job with the world's most powerful technology and social media company. Encouraged by the company's founder (Tom Hanks), Mae joins a groundbreaking experiment that pushes the boundaries of privacy, ethics and personal freedom. Her participation in the experiment, and every decision she makes soon starts to affect the lives and futures of her friends, family and that of humanity." Google

The Circle is about the pitfalls of technology, and it really describes how our world centers around something that can be so empty. Based on a bestselling novel, The Circle makes us think about our technological world in a new way.

Seven(1995)

"When retiring police Detective William Somerset (Morgan Freeman) tackles a final case with the aid of newly transferred David Mills (Brad Pitt), they discover a number of elaborate and grizzly murders. They soon realize they are dealing with a serial killer (Kevin Spacey) who is targeting people he thinks represent one of the seven deadly sins. Somerset also befriends Mills' wife, Tracy (Gwyneth Paltrow), who is pregnant and afraid to raise her child in the crime-riddled city." Google

Seven is a masterpiece of a movie with a mystery that will keep you on your toes. You find yourself not only thinking about who the killer is but his intentions. The ending really got to me.

The Others(2001)

"Grace (Nicole Kidman), the devoutly religious mother of Anne (Alakina Mann) and Nicholas (James Bentley), moves her family to the English coast during World War II. She awaits word on her missing husband while protecting her children from a rare photosensitivity disease that causes the sun to harm them. Anne claims she sees ghosts, Grace initially thinks the new servants are playing tricks but chilling events and visions make her believe something supernatural has occurred." Google

The Others is one of those thriller movies that really make you wonder till the finale. It is one of the directors' best work.

The Girl on the Train(2016)

"Commuter Rachel Watson (Emily Blunt) catches daily glimpses of a seemingly perfect couple, Scott and Megan, from the window of her train. One day, Watson witnesses something shocking unfold in the backyard of the strangers' home. Rachel tells the authorities what she thinks she saw after learning that Megan is now missing and feared dead. Unable to trust her own memory, the troubled woman begins her own investigation, while police suspect that Rachel may have crossed a dangerous line." Google

Another great movie that was based on a book.

Babadook(2014)

"A single mother, plagued by the violent death of her husband, battles with her son's fear of a monster lurking in the house, but soon discovers a sinister presence all around her. single mother, plagued by the violent death of her husband, battles with her son's fear of a monster lurking in the house, but soon discovers a sinister presence all around her."Google

A great film that makes you think about grief as well as death in a different way.

The Village(2004)

"An Amish-style community lives cut off from the outside world by the woods, in which they believe dangerous creatures exist. They have an uneasy truce with the creatures - if they stay out of the woods, they are left unharmed. When one of the young villagers becomes ill, the boy who loves her ignores the elders of the village to make a bid to the next town to fetch medicine."Google

One of the most compelling films I seen, The Village is one of my favorite thriller mystery films. You don't really expect what is coming and it is fantastic. There is also a lot of symbolism in this film, which really got me invested in movies in the first place because it made me do a double take and rewatch it for more details.
