🗣️ Movie coming out on Aug 9th 🫶🏻💐

In view of the #storytime campaign this month, I thought I’d share some thoughts about ‘It Ends With Us’, a novel written by Colleen Hoover.

The genre of this book has been widely debated because some people find it inappropriate to classify it as a romance novel, so I guess the best category would probably be drama.

Anyway, the story is led by Lily Bloom who is portrayed by Blake Lively in the film coming out on 9th Aug in Singapore. I personally quite liked Lily Bloom’s character because she is pretty relatable despite having a unique past/background.

One thing I appreciate about Colleen Hoover’s novels in general is that you get hooked in pretty quick, it’s not very long-drawn and the plot moves quickly. In ‘It Ends With Us’, I got attached to the characters pretty quick and I thought it was really quite enjoyable seeing the story unfold and the surprises that really sneaked up on you.

Overall, I would rate it a 3.5/5 because when it comes to books, I much prefer psychological thrillers/mysteries. On that note, you guys should read ‘Verity’ by Colleen Hoover if you’re thinking of getting started on her books. In my opinion, it’s the BEST novel that Colleen Hoover has written and I still think about it from time to time.

As for the upcoming movie, I’m really excited to see Blake Lively on screen but at the same time I’m really doubtful about the casting choice of her and Justin Baldoni because honestly they are a little too old to be portraying their characters… For context, Lily Bloom is a 23 year-old and Justin Baldoni’s character is 30 in the novel.

Nevertheless, I quite like watching movies based off novels I’ve read because I love seeing how some scenes play out in real life after only visualizing them in my head.

So if you haven’t got any plans for the upcoming National Day long weekend, go catch this film in cinemas!
