Flying your kids on business class for free?

Sharing this because we’ve saved so much over the years thanks to air miles! I would say 90% of the flights we took over the past 8-9years have been redeemed with miles and it’s not just for us, but also for our kids and sometimes relatives too!

Some countries where we’ve redeemed miles to include Switzerland, Japan, Turkey, Italy, Thailand and more.. so it’s really worth it😍

There are lots of articles online on how to maximise credit cards to gain miles etc, so I thought I’d share something a little different💕

- You can have only up to 5 nominees in each Krisflyer account! Sounds ok, but if you have multiple kids and plan to redeem for other family members too, it’s worth planning this out because.. [ While adding a new nominee is free, you will need to pay a fee (in miles or cash) to delete or replace a nominee after six months.]

And I’ve had to pay for this due to bad planning before🙈 So for our Bali trip, we had to redeem miles for 9 people including my helper, so we ended up having to use two different accounts. Thankfully we didn’t transfer all the credit card points out into one krisflyer account (as we usually do), because once it’s in one account it’s non-transferable😅 So if you are redeeming miles for a big group, plan out your nominees and how many miles you need in each account beforehand!

Also take note of this clause - For new, additional or replacement nominees, you will only be able to redeem flights for them which are departing more than 72 hours after they have been added as your redemption nominee(s). -

For our most recent Bangkok trip we ended up paying mostly cash for our business tickets because our remaining miles were in my account while my children’s nominee names were in my husband’s account😣 It was a spontaneous trip so even after switching their names over we didn’t hit the 72hrs requirement. In the end I could only redeem for my own ticket😌 Thankfully the prices were not too high!
