Have you done this before?! Having an end of summer celebration or seasonal transitional activities can help smooth the abrupt halt from summer to fall. Kids have mostly went all summer without seeing their friends. They're used to doing fun things and sleeping in later, going places, etc.

To help the change, start doing your end of summer activities now and end summer about a week before school starts. That way you can start getting them back into their school routine for a week before school starts and by that time they're used to it!

This is also a perfect time to fit in anything you wanted to do but didn't get done yet! aka mini golfing anyone!? My kid has been asking to go and we go every year, same with bowling, but for some reason we just haven't yet!

Take a day for a long walk or go for a hike even at your favorite trail! Make this a whole family activity, everyone can talk about their best memories this summer and it gives some intentional bonding time together. You can make new traditions, and help ease their new school year woes.
