Why has fast food gotten so expensive??

Me and my boyfriend eat out 1 time per month, It's usually Pizza but last Saturday we got Wendy's. 2 Combo meals was $30! WTH?? That's insane. I got Ghost Pepper Chicken Sandwich, fries, regular drink and he got the Loaded Nacho Burger (single patty), fries, regular drink. I could have gone to the store and purchased steak & baked potatoes for that crazy price. Why has fast food gotten so expensive?? Are there any cheap fast food recommendations?
