It’s Disability Pride Month!

I have so much to say about being disabled. The first being that I didn’t think this is where I was going to end up. I was very much a go getter fast pace type of person, finishing undergrad early and getting into grad school right after. I had plans. I pictured myself, at 27 being very involved with social work in NYC. Unfortunately I started getting sick my senior year of college and wasn’t able to continue grad school after 1 semester.

Now, about 7 years later I’m still fighting. All because I drank some tap water in another country that had some parasites in it, let it go and on and on and on. Also endometriosis but that’s a whole other story.

Anyway, take care of your health and don’t be afraid to fight a doctor if you think something is wrong. Don’t touch a persons wheelchair without asking and if you see someone in a handicap spot that you don’t think deserves it don’t forget that a lot of disabilities are invisible
