Location: KC Super Bowl Parade + Rally

With my 2 favorite guys, we made our way to KC to celebrate a big win for our Chiefs! (Super Bowl LVIII - Woohoo!)

Surrounded by a sea of red and gold, it was a magical day. So much happiness going around. High fives and a bunch of, “HOW BOUT THEM CHIEFS!?” filled the space around us. People from all backgrounds, there to spread love and joy together as a community, sharing one thing in common — a Chiefs Super Bowl WIN.

Or so we thought.

What I thought at the time, a fireworks celebration at the end of the rally, turned out to be a nightmare. Gun shots. This celebratory sea of red, now turned into crashing waves of panic and crying.

The eruption of violence transformed a day of joy and civic pride into one of loss and fear. A day many of us will never forget.

My prayers and sentiments go out to the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, who lost her life that day, as well as the other 22 victims and their families.

May we all find peace and comfort again someday.
