How I avoided the Freshman 15 in College

Number 1 Tip:

🚶‍♀️Walk EVERYWHERE if possible

- It’s really easy and tempting to just hop on that bus but I’m telling you walking to class will force you to get a little calorie burn in without even thinking about it. If possible, do NOT fall into the habit of hopping on that bus… yes even in the winter. I go to school in Wisconsin and if I can survive walking a mile to class everyday in the winter then you can too.

Number 2:

📝Put the time you can fit going to the gym in your planner and DO IT

- Some days you will just want to skip the gym and nap in your dorm bed, trust me I know, I’ve done it. And you’ll tell yourself you’ll go later then you’ll be stressed and cramming stuff at night. Put in your schedule when you will go to the gym/workout and do it. Grab an extra coffee or energy drink and go to the gym. I ALWAYS try to have my gym stuff in my bag or have my gym clothes already on me. Why? Because I know the second I step into my room, even if it’s just to change quick, I’ll be an hour behind schedule or more. Bring your gym stuff with you, it’s a game changer.

Number 3:

🍎“Try” to eat the healthier options on campus

- I’m going to tell you right now. It is extremely hard to eat healthy in college. Eating on campus is affordable and convenient. You could try to meal prep in your dorm and I do know people that do but, I know when I was a freshman I barely had a dime to my name. I could not afford to get healthy groceries, it’s not an excuse, it’s the truth.

Number 4:

🏐Join a sports club.

-This is a great way to stay active and hold yourself accountable to show up to the practices/games. I am on a club volleyball team on campus and it is so much fun and I have made a lot of really amazing friends through it.

Lastly, remember your bodies are always changing and adapting. Gaining weight around this time in your life is totally normal and apart of your journey as a woman. Remember all bodies are beautiful, just remember to take care of them :)
