Adapalene gel for a year and here’s what happened

I consistently used adapalene gel once a night for a year and here’s my story…

I am almost at my 12th month of using adapalene gel/differin. If you don’t already know what it is, it belongs to the retinoid family derived from vitamin A. Adapalene is commonly used for the treatment of acne vulgaris, a common skin condition that causes pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads. It can help unclog pores, prevent the formation of new acne lesions, and improve the overall texture and appearance of the skin.

In this post, I’ll be addressing some burning questions and sharing my own experience of using it. I would say that my experience was quite a unique one. I purged for months and took me way longer (about 6 months) to see any improvement. Feel free to read more in the slides.

You can easily get adapalene gel over the counter from Guardian/Watsons pharmacy at around $44 - it’s not the most affordable acne topical cream out there but it worked for me. Do note that you will need to present your IC upon purchase for regulation purposes.

Disclaimer: During the process, I did not take any form of oral medication or changed my skincare routine, so as to control the variables to see the most accurate results of using adapalene.
