Before we even start, why is it important to prepare for a lecture?

Preparing by reading the relevant lecture material prior to your class helps you feel less lost in class, aids you in understanding the topic better and makes studying more effective. The last thing you want to do is to walk into the class, being completely unaware of what the topic to be covered and having a difficult time in understanding the professor.
