01. Rain is portrayed as God’s blessing and provision for His people.

🫛He sends rain to water and nourish the earth. It soaks into the soil, leaving behind nutrients and growth of new life.

🍊”You visit the earth and water it,

You greatly enrich it;

The river of God is full of water;

You provide their grain,

For so You have prepared it.

You water its ridges abundantly,

You settle its furrows;

You make it soft with showers,

You bless its growth.

You crown the year with Your goodness,

And Your paths drip with abundance.

They drop on the pastures of the wilderness,

And the little hills rejoice on every side.

The pastures are clothed with flocks;

The valleys also are covered with grain;

They shout for joy, they also sing.”

02. Rain is often used as symbolism of the cleansing power and purification that washes over us through Jesus Christ.

🍓His blood washes over us and washes us clean. There is power in His name. There is power in His blood. His blood is more than enough to cover us, to heal us, to forgive us.

🍌Through Jesus, we are given a new hope and beginning.

03. Rain is a portrayal of God’s righteous judgment.

🥦 An excessive or scarce amount of rain tells of God’s just judgement on the earth. For example, the story of Noah. God flooded the earth because of it’s wickedness, saving Noah and his family due to their righteousness. God makes a covenant, the rainbow 🌈 being a symbol of His promise, to never flood the earth again.

🥥 Another example of God’s righteous judgment is in the book of 1 Kings. For three years and six months, Elijah prayed reverently that it might not rain on the earth. And it didn’t. The reason for the famine in the land was because the people had turned their faces from God and aside to wooden idols. They turned aside to worship the work of their own hands.

04. Rain symbolizes the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

🍒 God promises the outpouring of His Holy Spirit onto all who believe in His name.

🥑 “He shall come down like rain upon the grass before mowing, Like showers that water the earth.” Psalms 72:6 NKJV.
