i have 4 piercings to date (it’s very little but at least it’s something 😾) and i just wanted to share about my experience with them ~

to summarise, i’ll be talking about

•how beginner friendly each piercing is

•pain rating

•where i got them done

•aftercare & healing phase

•signs of piercing rejection

my piercings! ᡣ𐭩

1-lobes

the most beginner friendly piercing anyone can ever get.

i got was forced to get them done when i was 6 at some atas piercing shop at bedok (im not even sure if it exists anymore), im sure lobes didnt hurt much but i remember crying like a bitch..💔 wasnt sure if its out of fear or it really hurt back then

2-septum

if you have multiple cartilage piercings, you probably can handle this. i did not get my second piercing until i turned 20, and this time i went for a septum. i got it done @ NeedlesnPinsz (theyre temporarily closed but theres another one at woodlands!) if i were to rate the pain its probably like a 4/10, just that it stung a lot when the piercer was putting the jewellery in. and afterwards my whole nose just felt stinging pain for the next 2 days

3-helix

next level from the lobes, best beginner friendly cartilage piercing.helix was something i wanted since young but i was not sure if i could handle the pain because it was a cartilage piercing but i thought since i handled my septum like a boss i might as well go for it 👍🏻 pain was 6/10 i had no idea why it was so freaking painful and i was constantly having headaches during the healing process..anyways i got them done at New Generation Collection

4-rook

intermediate level of piercing. the newest addition to the family, i decided to get a rook after contemplating for 2 years. my friends tell me its the most painful they’ve gotten and i wasnt confident i could handle it after how my pain i thought my helix was. anyways i got it done at New Generation Collection again and honestly pain was 2/10..it was painful for the next two hours but after that i couldnt even feel as if there was a piercing there lol

aftercare and healing phase ! ᡣ𐭩

aftercare is generally the same, just get the aftercare spray. you might need to dab a cotton bud into the solution to clean out the crust on some cartilage piercings but please be careful not to move the jewellery much as it will affect the healing process!

each piercing has different healing duration, here’s a rough estimate of how long my piercings take to fully heal:

•lobes - slightly more than a month

•septum - 6 months

•helix - 4 months

•rook - still healing

it is important to note that during healing, never ever touch your piercing with unsanitised hands, let alone move or remove the jewellery. your body needs time to accept the presence of something that was not originally there.

crusting for the next few days/weeks and slight bleeding after piercing is a normal reaction. crusting shows that your body is trying to heal the wound, which is a good thing! apparently its better if you leave the crusts alone as it will help speed up the healing, but it can get quite nasty in my opinion. so you do you

signs of piercing rejection! ᡣ𐭩

some of us may not be as fortunate as others. not all our bodies are able to accept the piercings and you will notice that the jewellery the piercer had put in has slowly shifted its position over time. you will notice that the piercing is irriated, your ear looks red and even in extreme cases, the jewellery becomes visible under your skin. in cases of piercing rejection, you should remove your piercing and contact your piercer. piercing rejection can be due to various reasons

•wrong jewellery size

•your body is allergic to the jewellery material

•genetics

just to name a few! rejection symptoms usually show after a few days, and dont be disheartened if it cant be saved.
