I’ve lived in NYC for over 2 years and am currently living in my 2nd NYC apartment. Both of my apartments are in Brooklyn, so I might know Brooklyn better than any other NYC boroughs. But with my job as a fashion, travel & lifestyle content creator, I do have a few things to say when it comes to what’s considered BEST in terms of NEIGHBORHOODS in NYC.

My first apartment is in Bushwick, Brooklyn, and it was a perfect first NYC apartment for me and my partner. I do think Bushwick in Brooklyn and Ridgewood in Queens are great for those who are new to NYC. L train is reliable, and it takes about 20 minutes to get to most places near Union Square, Manhattan. And from there, you can easily transfer to another train to go anywhere in the city. If you have a car, you can pretty much go anywhere in all of the boroughs.

Elmhurst, Woodside, Sunnyside, and Middle Village in Queens are neighborhoods that more people are moving to if they cannot afford the waterfront apartments in Williamsburg, Greenpoint or Long Island City. Again, it also depends on your vibe and what you’re looking for.

For Manhattan, Turtle Bay and Kips Bay tend to have more affordable options. East Village has great food and bar options, and Lower East Side is what I’d like to move to next if Manhattan is still in my mind later on. Brooklyn is great for me for now since my partner and I have a car.

East Harlem in Manhattan, East Flatbush and Sunset Park in Brooklyn are what I’ve seen included in many Best Neighborhood List as well. Thoughts?
