1. Coraline, 2009

⭐️Rate: 10/10

🎬Review: "Coraline" is simply one of the best animated films ever made: The plots is brilliantly developed, the animation is detailed and beautiful to look at, the characters are fascinating and interesting, and the world created by Neil Gaiman and Henry Selick it's simply captivating, but mysterious and dangerous and well.

Clearly influenced by "Alice in Wonderland", "Coraline" is charming and macabre at the same time:

At first "The Other World" seems like a dream come true, but there is also a constant sense of danger in the air.

2. Hocus Pocus, 1993

⭐️Rate: 8/10

🎬Review: This movie is funny, scary, but warm and human all at once. It emphasizes the value of families working together to help each other and does not create confusing messages about good and evil. It's a fast-paced comedy that does not trivialize the characters. Bette Midler's rendition of

"I've Put a Spell on You" shows the depth of her talent as a singer/stage performer. The divine Ms.

Bette has great chemistry with both Kathy Naijimy (how does she get her mouth to do that?), and Sarah Jessica Parker (amok, amok, amok). While the scary factor with corpses and death may not be appropriate for very small children, the movie is lots of fun for the whole family.

3. Halloweentown, 1998

⭐️Rate: 10/10

🎬Review: This was a great movie. It was entertaining and intelligent. Great sets... good acting (as well as you can expect in a Disney TV movie. Kimberly J. Brown did a great job as the character of hopeful Marnie. Joey Zimmerman did a nice comical job portraying the extremely dry Dylan. But in my opinion, Emily Roeske stole the show as Sophie. She was adorable and the most intelligent character. Nicely developed plot... and Debbie Reynolds just shines as the kooky grandmother! I'd definitely recommend this movie... it's a great way to pass a lazy afternoon.

4. Corpse Bride, 2005

🎬Review: This is not my favourite Tim Burton movie by a long shot, but I did find myself enjoying it. The animation is absolutely amazing with the dark bold colours and inspired visual ideas. The music is good too, it adds very well to the atmosphere. The four songs are pretty decent, if nothing special. Remains of the Day was the one I liked best. The script is witty and deliciously dark in places, while the story is clever and fairly original, even if it drags slightly occasionally. The characters are wonderfully quirky and the voice work from the likes of Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter is top notch. All in all, a beautifully crafted film, if not quite Burton's finest hour.

5. MaXXXine, 2024

🎬Review: I've seen a lot of reviews from people that clearly didn't watch the other movies. If you watch this standalone without any backstory/trauma from the originals then you're missing a lot.

This is definitely the most stylish out of the 3 but not nearly as tense or horrifying. I'd say the last 15-20 minutes were a little rushed and could have been made more interesting but it wasn't bad, just not what I wanted.

Every actor was great. I saw someone on here mention that Kevin Bacon did it only for the money

- or maybe he wanted to be in this to be attached to one of the better trilogy's we've seen in cinema.
