Bloating is one of the worst feeling ever. I’m talking about chronic bloating. Your tummy is so bloated that you can’t even button your pants or sit down comfortably. Here are some tips from me as a person who has been dealing with bloating since secondary school. 🫠

1. Intermittent Fasting

This is one of the effective approach at preventing or reducing bloating. I fast for 14-16 hours after dinner. I’ll stop eating after 9pm and have my breakfast the next day at around 11am-1pm. This gives your body more time to thoroughly digest previous food before loading with new intake.

2. Ginger & Cinnamon shots

I always take a ginger + cinnamon shot if I’m severely bloated. Cinnamon cuts sugar while ginger is excellent for digestion in both TCM and western medicine. Gingerol, a component found in ginger root, helps with speeding up digestion rate.

3. Digestive Enzymes

I’ll either take apple cider vinegar or probiotics mixed with prebiotics. Prebiotics are the food that feed your probiotics. Never ever take apple cider vinegar together with probiotics! They cancel each other.

4. Avoid Food Triggers

Know your body’s food triggers. Mine are sweet potatoes and the deadly combination of broccoli with brown rice. It gives me chronic bloating. There is so much air that it travels up my chest and I end up with chest pain too. Other common triggers include uncooked or raw veggies and starchy stuff like boba.

5. Cut Sugar.

For me, sugar is always a culprit in bloating. This includes high GI food like bananas too. Sugar throws the balance of good and bad bacterial in your gut into chaos. Severe cases lead to candida or similar issues. Those conditions make your life a living hell. Candida is not easy to cure completely.
