absolutely MUST TRY for KBBQ lovers 🫶🏻 (O.BBa BBQ)

idk bout you but i love kbbq…sm… i’ve eaten so much kbbq (i’ve tried almost all the places at Tanjong Pagar & Amoy St.), some of which were definitely better than others. 😗👀

a lot has changed since the reopening of the world (and many places i’ve loved have changed menu, prices, meat selections), so i’ll be sharing some of my fave/top kbbq spots with you as i make my way round them again! starting off with my current fave O.BBa BBQ 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

🌟what we ordered: [full menu]

🥘 • New Set (2 pax), which includes:

- Saeng Samgyeopsal (Wet Aging 3cm Pork Belly)

- Ggoksal (Beef Flower Prime Rib)

- Jumeokbap (Rice ball) you can choose between Buldak🔥or Flying fish roe, we got flying fish roe bc we didn’t feel like suffering

🥩 • + Saeng Samgyeopsal (ofc we got another portion)

🍚 • + Plain rice (just one)

☁️thoughts:

as I always say, test is subjective but I’M PRETTY CONFIDENT ABOUT THIS ONE so sit dOWN!

- the pork belly is always consistent quality and so flavourful & hella thicc, some of the bEST out there but MAKE SURE you get the 3cm one. they have another cut but it doesn’t hit the same. everything else can don’t read but DON’T FORGET THIS.

- the beef is moist, flavourful, perfect amount of bite to melty ratio.. my mouth is watering now

- the rice ball is.. okay! 😀 I mean.. it’s jumeogbap… y’know..

- their banchan (side dishes) are always very generous & tasty

- I didn’t order stew this time round, but I’ve had it many times before. their stews are good but not to my taste preference, if you’re craving tho, go for it!

- the staff are always sO inCREDIBLY friendly, sweet, and helpful, the vibes are always so nice 🤍 despite having tried so many places, O.BBa BBQ remains in my Top 3, no doubt.

I know it looks expensive but I don’t eat this every week. I save it for days where I need a pick me up / celebration. but honestly, for the quality, it’s so so good and the set is worth the money (they have many other sets as well). there’s nothing I hate more than spending money on food that sucks, so trust pls when I say this is worth every penny 🙏🏻🙏🏻 the plain rice is admittedly ridiculously expensive but.. I’m Asian la I cannot eat without plain rice so bobian 😔

🌟tips:

O.BBa doesn’t do reservations, only walk-ins. the queue is absolutely INSANE thurs & friday, so make sure you’re there before office hours end, or be ready to queue for an hour minimum (worth it always but it’s no joke). they work on a ticketed queue no. system, so if you or a friend can get there early to get a ticket, DO IT… and a little secret for those that read all the way to this point: there’s 2 shops, O.BBa Jjajang & BBQ and O.BBa BBQ. if the queue for one is too long, check out the other one. usually for some weird reason, the line of one always moves faster than the other (maybe fengshui 🥸). just don’t forget, order the 3cm pork belly 🫵🏻😠.
