HOW TO STYLE: Denim on Denim 👖

The denim on denim look (also known as the Canadian Tuxedo) has been a topic of fashion for years ever since Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears stepped out in their full denim looks. I personally love the looks, when they’re done right. Here’s how I would style Denim on Denim:

1. Denim Top + Denim Mini Skirt/Maxi Skirt: A cute denim top in a corset style, tank top, bustier, crop top, vest, bralette of some sort paired with a denim skirt is so cute! I love that this mini skirt has a criss cross detailing to differentiate from regular denim skirts as an added cute specialty to the outfit. Similarly, a long maxi denim skirt is so sleek and chic, and adds some elevation to the outfit.

2. Oversized Denim Jacket + Denim Shorts/Jeans: The key to matching denim on denim is to make sure that you’re mixing the same tone of denim. I have two oversized denim jackets – one in a lighter shade and one in a darker shade, which was perfect for my light wash criss-cross shorts and dark wash denim low-rise jeans. Paired with a simple basic tee sandwiched in between the two, this breaks up the denim so that it’s not so over-the-top.
