Why I quit dying my hair

I quit dying/bleaching my hair about a year ago. Although I don’t think my hair is 100% back to its natural state, It’s made a major difference in the health of my hair, the way I style it, and how I feel about my natural features.

As a kid I had long blonde beautiful hair, but the older I got the darker it got. I was super insecure of my hair color as it got darker. I thought it was boring and dull looking. So in middle school I started getting highlights to bring some of the bright blonde back, and by high school I was getting it so heavily highlighted that my whole head was blonde again.

My hair in high school was still healthy enough to withstand the bleach, but as the years went by the more brittle, thin, and damaged it got. I’ve always been able to grow really long hair but from high school until last year my hair wouldn’t grow at all.

I finally decided to ditch the bleach and hair dye and let it go natural.

It was the best decision I’ve ever made! My hair is growing like a weed now, And I feel 10X more confident. Having my natural hair color has shown me how important embracing your authentic features can truly transform the way you feel about yourself.
