How I bought my new launch condo at 27

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my story about how I managed to snag a new launch condo at 27 years old. It's been quite the journey, and I hope it inspires some of you who are looking to make your own home dreams come true.

I started working at 23 and spent the next four years saving diligently. By 2016, at the age of 27, I was ready to dive into the property market. I remember searching for a private condo, sorting them by the lowest price, and seeing a lot of new launches. In 2015, I almost went for Sims Urban Oasis, but my savings weren’t quite enough for the downpayment, so I decided to wait for the next opportunity.

Fast forward to 2016, before I went on a holiday in US, I saw this particular condo launching at the price tag that I can afford to enter. I appointed my friend to help out by putting in the cheque, with her sister acting as my agent. My main criteria was to get a unit below $500k, so I signed up for six different unit types, ranging from the 2nd to the 4th floor with various facings.

The day of the ballot, I got an call from this friend. She said I got the ballot, but the units I initially wanted were all sold out and were around the $500k price point. She then mentioned there was a 12th floor unit available for $520k. After a quick calculation, I decided to go for it and told her to secure the 12th-floor unit.

And that’s how, at 27 years old, I landed a new launch condo!

Now, at 35, I look back on that experience with pride and excitement.
