WHY I DON’T LIKE THE DYSON HAIRDRYER

I’ve been using Xiaomi’s hairdryer for a while now but recently got the Dyson supersonic to try. I’ll be honest, my expectations were sky high and I was pretty disappointed with how “average” the experience felt 😭

The Dyson hairdryer has 3 heat settings and 3 wind settings which can be easily adjusted. There’s also a cool setting (which most hair dryers have).

⏰ Technology aside, the basic features only meet the bare minimum. It touts itself to be fast drying but I found that it took longer to dry my hair compared to the Xiaomi. But this could also be because I used the flat head attachment which is supposed to help with frizz.

🔥However I note that the heat is not as strong, which is probably better for your hair. However, the lesser heat also made it harder to style and as you can see in the second picture, there isn’t much difference between both results (maybe looks less dry on the ends). For such a big price difference, I’m not sure the Dyson is worth getting :(

👂🏻Just one tiny peeve, there is a very annoying sharp sound from the Dyson hair dryer that hurts my ears!

😍 One saving grace is the array of styling tools you get with the Dyson which can help with almost every hair need. However, realistically speaking, I don’t see myself fumbling in the box picking out different attachments on a daily basis just to blow my hair. Especially when the Xiaomi has been doing alright with a single flat head attachment.

Overall, with proper heat protection, I believe it’s still OK to stick with a cheaper hair dryer. The Dyson is great for anyone who can afford it. But I don’t feel like you’re missing out on a lot by not having one too! You can probably style your hair and achieve similar effects at a quarter of that cost!
